The Human Race is a 5K Walk or Timed Run that takes place on May 6, 2017 starting at Alex R Thomas Plaza at 9 am. Early registration starts at 8am. The event is a collaborative community fundraiser that supports charities by raising funds and building community awareness.
NCO’s Hands On Volunteer Network provides the marketing, publicity, materials and experienced assistance. Charities and businesses provide the people power!
Prior to race day, local businesses and organizations form teams and collect donations in support of their charity. A small percentage of each team’s total goes to NCO to cover the cost of hosting the event.
On race day, the teams show up, many in outrageous costumes, to either walk or run the 5k that winds through the streets of Ukiah.
The Human Race is a proven fundraiser across the United States and continues to grow in popularity each year. It’s a fun and effective way to raise money for our local non-profits and support our community.

There is a three step process to ensure your Human Race success:
Pick the non-profit you’d like to support.
The last few years have included cut backs in vital services throughout the County. There are dozens of Mendocino County non-profits that can use your support.
These amazing charities are the backbone for many local families and our entire community. All of us are grateful for the fine work of these thankless organizations. This is your chance to give back.
Organize your team.
Select your Human Race Coordinator and recruit 2-5 planning team members. These individuals can be from your board, staff, co-workers, friends, or volunteers. Recruit individuals who have expertise in different but complimentary areas.
Then plan on attending our Human Race Kick-Off Event at Slam Dunk Pizza on TBD. Bring your Human Race Team Sign up form with you. This amazing family friendly event will give you all the details you need. You’ll leave ready and inspired raise tons of cash for your charity. In addition to music, food, and drinks there will be training and plenty of inspiration to fill out the evening.
You’ll learn from non-profits about how The Human Race has helped their organization and see firsthand how your efforts are building community. You’ll receive fundraising tips from some of the top teams from previous years, hear from event sponsors, and more!
Get out there and raise money!
During the kick-off event we will announce our fundraising contest that includes prizes for the top fundraising teams and individuals. You’ll be sure to want to be a part of the action!
We’ll provide tools and resources for you including training on how to raise money online and via social media.
The fundraising period runs a limited time from TBD which means you only have a couple of months to make your impact.
